Maria
Güell, produced and directed by documentalist Agustin Blazquez. This
tango is included in the new CD UNA of Luisa Maria Güell. The CD was
nominated for a Grammy in 2007. Miss Güell received many awards in
Europe and America during her career, among them the Edith Piaf Gold
Medal in France. It was the first time that this coveted medal was given
to a non French singer. Also in France she received the award as Best
Interpreter. Miss Güell will be in concert next March 29 at the Miami
Dade County Auditorium in Miami.

Musical
documentary (with English subtitles) CUBA: THE PEARL OF THE ANTILLES is a
nostalgic visual and musical memory dating from pre-Columbian
times to January 1, 1959. There is no narration to distract from the
visuals or the music, just a few subtitles indicating the year and the
places throughout the six original Cuban provinces. This enchanting
documentary features 26 glorious melodies by the great Cuban composers
performed by Cuban artists. Featuring
melodies from the Cuban zarzuelas Cecilia Valdés, Amalia Batista, |
Rosa
La China, and El Cafetal and such classics as, La Bayamesa, El Mambí,
Versos Sencillos, Recordar, Almendares,
Corazón, Longina, Los Tres Golpes, Para Vigo Me Voy, Pensamiento, Siboney,
Al Fin and Mirame Así. And such popular songs as Romance En La Habana, Si
Te Dicen, Total, Viviré Para Amarte and Diferencia. With the extraordinary voices of María Remolá and Sarita Escarpanter, and the popular 1950s vocalist Olga Rivero.
